Quantity Surveying has been the mainstay of our business for the last 25 years but the changing economic and construction climate has seen our specific role change and adapt over that time.

We have welcomed the introduction of the partnering ethos into contract procurement and are able to bring our experience in this area to bear in many of the projects we are involved with. Our role can include preparation of contract documentation for competitive tenders, partnering agreements or as Employers Agent for Design and Build contracts.

Our work in the social housing sector includes new build housing, comprehensive refurbishment, major repairs or ongoing maintenance and renewal contracts and range from several million pounds to a few thousand.

Recent projects have seen us expand our portfolio into the Health Care sector with a number of new residential and nursing homes being built for large private health care providers. This is clearly a growing market and we see our involvement in this type of work continuing to expand.

Our commercial work has seen us involved with Arnold Clark Ltd., the largest motor dealer in Scotland by providing Quantity Surveying services for a number of alterations, extensions and improvements to a range of car showrooms and garage facilities. This type of work has the added complication of operating in a live environment where disruption to the ongoing business activities of the garage and showroom has to be kept to an absolute minimum.

We have two full time Energy Assessors who are able to produce Energy Performance Certificates for domestic dwellings of any nature across Scotland. Accredited through Northgate Information Solutions we have access to the latest software that allows the EPC to be available immediately upon completion of the survey, maximising our efficiency and minimising the time from instruction to certificate.

We are able to work across both the public and private sectors and are one of four organisations being endorsed by the Scottish Federation of Housing Associations to provide EPC’s to their members.

We have carried out a vast range of stock condition survey work ranging from remote island communities to dense, city centre housing schemes. We are able to accommodate surveys involving several thousand properties and by utilising specialist survey software can provide detailed survey analysis down to individual property level.

All our Surveyors are experienced stock condition surveyors who have developed a detailed knowledge of property condition and we continually provide training and development opportunities to ensure they are fully briefed on current legislation and surveying practices.

The type of surveys we conduct include:

  • Stock Condition Surveys
  • Scottish Housing Quality Standard Surveys
  • Private Sector Surveys
  • Tenent Satisfaction Surveys
  • Strutural Surveys
  • Asbestos Surveys
  • DDA Surveys
  • Energy Efficiency Surveys

Our most recent service has been the development of our Stock Information Database (SID) which is a web-based property database allowing users to view and amend property details, run “what if” scenarios to see the impact of different investment strategies and to define and produce reports on all aspects of SHQS and 30 year investment need. A working example of SID can be viewed by following the link below and logging in using the email address “demo” and password “jmp”
